It's confirmed: Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The four-time NBA All-Star and 2015 Most Improved Player played a total of 64 games for his former Chicago Bulls coach and current Wolves president Tom Thibodeau last season (22.2 pts 5.3 rpg 4.9 apg 2 spg). Over the summer, Butler was rumored to have been "fed up" with Minnesota's "nonchalant" youngsters, particularly Karl-Anthony Towns.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, his preferred destinations are the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, or the New York Knicks, with the Clippers as his priority landing spot. Other reports suggest that the development was more about "contractual matters" than Towns and Butler's teammates. He is set for a hefty payday in next year's loaded free agency.

All three big-market teams in the 29-year-old swingman's wishlist can offer that max extension, not to mention great living conditions as compared to the cold Twin Cities. However, Butler will have to sacrifice being competitive by joining rebuilding squads. Unlike with the Wolves, though, whichever city he ends up in, he will undoubtedly be the face of the franchise.
