The former pound-for-pound king initially seemed to be in control over Holloway in the first round, but things quickly shifted in favor of the defending champion. By Round 3, Holloway was pummeling Aldo with a barrage of unforgiving punches.
Aldo eventually went down and the fight was called off shortly after, but this wasn’t until he took tons of punishment in the form of savage swings mostly directed at his face.
To Aldo’s credit, he took it pretty well (maybe a bit too well in this case). Meanwhile, fans were talking about something else aside from Holloway’s win.
Well, we did say he took it a bit too well but despite the loss and his face getting disfigured, Aldo was still a class act:
Aldo’s second loss to Holloway is the latest update to his 26-4-0 record. His other losses were a 13-second first-round KO delivered by UFC champ Conor McGregor and a tapout to Luciano Azevedo way back in 2005.
