That Manny Pacquiao will soon depart from the sport that made him a global icon and national hero wasn't ever a huge secret.
But yesterday, Pacquiao put a specific date on the expiration of his boxing career: 2016, or just before the next national elections.
In a report by ABS-CBN, the 35-year-old boxer-politician-soon-to-be-PBA-playing-coach confirmed plans to officially retire in 2016, in order to run for the Senate. One Manny quote from the said report goes: “There’s a big possibility that I will run for Senate. UNA has asked me to join its slate, and I’m grateful for that.”
Pacquiao is said to have four fights left in his contract, with a tussle against unbeaten American Chris Algieri in November being the soonest.
Once those four fights are up, we'll definitely miss the athletic tornado that was Pacquiao. We do have a little wishlist before The End happens though. Given Pacquiao's penchant to do PRACTICALLY ANYTHING, below we've prepared a little bucket list for the Super Saranganian #BeforePacquiaoRetires...
1) Become a Parkour phenom
2) Rule the pound-for-pound arm wrestling rankings
3) Become the first pure Pinoy WWE champ
4) Participate in the world's strong-man competition (and carry cute pigs like these)
