It's All About The Delly—In Your NBA Finals Game 3 Meme Recap!

He might not have gotten off on the right foot during the earlier parts of the NBA Playoffs—where he even got tagged as a dirty player—but Matthew Dellavedova is proving to be indispensable in the Cleveland Cavaliers' title run.

After his head-turning effort in Game 2, in which he put the clamps on league MVP Stephen Curry, the undrafted Aussie followed it up with grittier performance in his team's 96-91 Game 3 home win against the Golden State Warriors earlier today.


Delly—who put up 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists, and once again stifled Steph (at least during the first half)—has shown that he is more than a capable sidekick to a beastin' LeBron James:

Not only that, he has also personified how the Cavs' style of play has come about after all these injuries. We mean, just look at these GIFs:


Just like in Game 2, the sophomore guard out of Saint Mary's College of California bottled up Curry in the first two quarters, sticking it to Dubs' main guy, resulting to Curry's 1-for-6 shooting clip for a measly three points. That's when the memes started pouring in...

But then Curry had enough, finally breaking free from Delly's tight D and turned it up for 24 points in the second half, including a 17-point barrage in the final quarter that once again pushed the home team to the brink. (We almost forgot that rare David Lee sighting, which accounted for 11 points in just 13 minutes.)

Curry was too-late-the-hero though as the Wine and Gold weren't about to let this one slip away, sustaining their hustle and intensity all throughout the game.

And more importantly, the King didn't choke, converting all of his six free throws in the final minute.


Despite another gaudy statline—40 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, four steals, two blocks, and a hundred of everything—from LeBron, Delly was the apparent hero in this one, and the Internet made sure he got the credit:

After the game, Curry said he might have found a way to attack the Cavs' pick-and-roll setups and hopefully carry over his hot fourth quarter to Game 4. We all know a more-than-ready Delly is waiting...
