We're now on the cusp of the biggest boxing event of the century!
Earlier in the day, the Mayweather-Pacquiao mega fight finished its final phase of pre-fight formalities as both fighters went on the scales for the super bout's weigh-in. The Weigh-In Of The Century—for which tickets were sold for as much as $700 to a crowd of 11,500—was held at around 6 a.m. (Manila time) at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas.
First to enter the stage was Pambansang Kamao, Manny Pacquiao, who was greeted by the fans with a chorus of "Manny! Manny!" as he walked towards the platform–but not before taking a selfie, of course.
The Pacman showed no nerves as he made his way to the podium, playing along with the crowd as he acknowledged them with a few poses:
Okay ba tayo riyan, idol?
Meanwhile, his opponent, Floyd Mayweather Jr., was showered with jeers as he walked to the stage. Money May looked focused, almost emotionless with only a serious look painted on his face.
Same goes for his huge bodyguards. (Who are you afraid of, Money?!)
The grand entrances are over! It's time for the weigh-in!
Manny makes weight with no trouble as he tipped the scales at 145 pounds, well below the welterweight limit of 147.
Money also effortlessly makes weight at 146 pounds.
Now that the Weigh-In Of The Century is done and over, only the fight remains. It's still pretty surreal to know that the fight—barring a zombie apocalypse tonight—is set to happen, and is just a day away. Repeat it with us, FHM Nation: Bukas na po, mga kaibigan, ang pinaka-iintay nating sapakan nila Manny at Mayweather.
And yes, both fighters can now eat as they please! Right, Manny?
Man, he can't even wait for the event to finish to get his hands on some munchies. Best bud Buboy immediately gives him a chocolate bar right after he went down the scale. (Prediction: Butterfinger sales are about to soar.)
The air got really serious though when the two Pound-For-Pound kings faced each other for the obligatory face-off, with Manny saying "Thank you" to Money May before they went back to their respective camps.
"Yes, I said 'Thank you [to Mayweather].' I'm saying it [in behalf of the fans], for making this fight happen," explains the eight-division world champion. "They truly deserve this fight," he continues.
And his thoughts when he finally shares the ring with Floyd tomorrow? "I believe that the Lord will deliver him to my hands," he says in the affirmative.
Meanwhile, here's what Money had to say: "Right now, my thing is to just focus for tomorrow. My frame of mind is just to be smart." Concludes the current pound-for-pound kingpin: "I'm ready to fight."
This is it, FHM Nation! It's all green lights from here and we're just a sleep away from witnessing one of the biggest spectacles in sweet science's rich history.
