At the MMA event Bellator 158 held last Sunday (Manila time) in London, English fighter Michael "Venom" Page crushed his opponent's face with a flying knee. The victim, Brazilian MMA veteran Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, ran straight into the vicious strike with 33 seconds remaining in the second round. Cyborg fell onto the mat where he winced and convulsed in pain.

All the while, Santos' tormentor signaled for his team to hand him a Pokémon-inspired cap and a Poké Ball, which was used to "capture" Santos like a Pokémon.

In hindsight, the post-victory antics are looking more and more tasteless as details surrounding the damage to Santos arise. It looks horrible. Santos' ex-wife, MMA superstar Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, posted this on Instagram:

The visible damage in the x-ray and the photo looks disturbing even if you aren't the squeamish type. It looks straight out of the newer Mortal Kombat games which have those "X-Ray" combos that show the damage being done to the fighters' bones and organs.

As stated in the Instagram post, Santos is not yet in the clear and "he has not had surgery yet and their worry [is] the brain can continue to swell causing more damage." There is currently a GoFundMe page where one can donate to cover Santos' medical expenses.

We hope you make a full recovery, Mr. Santos.
