Search for “dunks” on Youtube, and before you know it you’ve wasted an entire day looking at some 5’7” dude doing what most of us can only dream of: double-clutch, 360, twice-between-the-leg slams.
No dunk though brought about louder cheers this weekend than Ateneo star Kiefer Ravena’s rim-rattler against UST’s Karim Abdul. Video of the crime went around social networks, almost making it seem like the eventual Ateneo victory was merely a bonus. Of course, it was the other way around, as the win gave Ateneo the top semis seed.
Read on, and check out how the UAAP playoffs are shaping up along with other stories in this week’s quick-hitting recap of the crazy sports weekend that was.
The stage is (almost) set for UAAP’s Men’s Basketball
Ateneo beat UST in a nail-biter that saw the latter coming back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth only to be denied by a game-clinching three-point play courtesy of the Eagles’ Ryan Buenafe.
The 68-66 win ensured that Ateneo will have the top semis spot with a 12-2 record and twice-to-beat advantage. Fighting for the three remaining spots are FEU and UST who are currently tied for second with a 9-4 record. FEU lost Sunday to a La Salle squad intent on not being eliminated. With the win, La Salle held on to an 8-5 record, good for tying the N.U. Bulldogs for the fourth spot.
Upcoming games this week for FEU, UST, La Salle, and NU will decide the final bracket.
