We're a couple of days away from the opening of the UAAP Season 80 women's volleyball tournament (February 3, Mall of Asia Arena), and fans can't wait for their favorite players to hit the court, and as overused as the next phrase is, spike their way into our hearts.

National University and Adamson University kick off the festivities in the matinee game, followed by reigning champions De La Salle University starting its three-peat bid against University of Santo Tomas during the prime time match.

But the intense competition is only half the reason that the local volleyball following—composed of both male and female—is steadily growing by the year. It's also in part because of these hard-hitting ladies, who have the looks and skill to become the Rachel Anne Daquis, Mika Reyes, and Amanda Villanueva.
