Could the days leading up to this fight get any slower? It's just that it's been a long time coming, and we cannot wait any longer. Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira are set to duke it out for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 172 this Sunday, April 27 (Manila time)!
Need we explain what makes this title fight a must-watch? Do you need proof of how scary good these guys are? Finally, do you enjoy seeing grown men put each other to sleep? Scroll down to find out why Jones and Teixeira should be afraid of each other!
For starters, Jon should watch out for Glover's left hook. The Brazilian cites Mike Tyson and Chuck Liddell as two of his greatest idols, for crying out loud. And we all know what those two fight legends have in common: one-punch knockout power!
Prior to learning mixed martial arts, Glover spent 12 hours a day working as a landscaper, so you don't want to get caught in one of his crafty choke holds.
Hands down, Glover's right uppercut is right up there with great MMA hookers (the punch, not the you-know-what) Shane Carwin and Josh Barnett. We guess what we're trying to say is he's got the knockout power of a heavyweight.
Nothing good will also come out of trying to corner Glover; he'll come swinging at you either way, and chances are you'll hit the mat before he does.
With all due respect to Jon, we don't think his chin will be able to handle Glover's power. It's best to keep your distance, champ!
