Netflix has been adding a lot of anime to their portfolio lately—both original productions and legendary shows—but this is probably the biggest cop to date: the streaming service has just picked up 1995's Neon Genesis Evangelion. The trailer doesn't really show off the plot, so let us tell you it's basically teenagers fighting aliens in giant robots with a whole load of angst.
It's never been available to (legally) stream anywhere before this and obviously Netflix knows anime is the wave because we don't think picking up this legendary franchise was cheap. They're also including the two movies Death (basically the series condensed into a film) and End of Evangelion (a retcon of the original, infamously mindfuck ending). True fans will tell you that the best way to experience Eva is to see the series and then the End so big props to Netflix for making sure you can do just that.
Eva stans know this feeling!
Aside from being a famous anime, NGE is also the inspiration for a lot of sci-fi and "aesthetic" that followed, so even non-weebs should check it out. We're ready for a new generation to be converted into animes fans after watching this next spring!
