If there’s one TV show that knows how to use the power of social media competently, it’s ABS-CBN’s Wildflower.
The Maja Salvador-starrer has been on air since February last year. And all throughout its run, it has consistently been one of the network’s top-rating teleseryes. It’s also a favorite (and always-trending) topic on social media.
Most will argue that few people are actually watching TV show these days (because most of us are focused on our smartphones), but we just can’t help but wonder how Wildflower manages to make relevant noise on both broadcast and digital mediums.
Their strategy: intelligently utilizing social media platforms.
Even if you haven’t watched the show, you’ve heard of the characters Lily Cruz and Ivy Aguas (both played by Maja, who is a revelation in the role). Heck, you've probably even seen Aiko Melendez’ funny meme below more than once on your feed. Maybe a hundred times, even.

The team behind Wildflower have become experts in social content, garnering more attention from the public as the plot of the series moves forwards. With so much digital clutter, getting the praise of netizens is a challenge, but the show has triumphantly snagged a millennial audience. This, of course, translates into ratings.
This 2018, the show’s social media team has taken things a notch higher. Since fake news (posted on social media, of course), tokhang, EJKs, and politics are hot topics, the teleserye is exploiting these social elements in order to become viral.
