Netflix Original movie Set It Up has been charming everyone around the world back into the nostalgic feel-good era of classic romantic comedies since its arrival last June 15th. It’s been touted as the return of good romcoms in mainstream media and we really can’t disagree with that. If you’re a guy and you feel like watching films like this will license people to attack your fragile masculinity, we clawed through Netflix to bring you a list of romcoms that your manliness can bond with over some popcorn and beer.

1) The Incredible Jessica James

If you like boss women in leading roles, then Jessica Williams’ portrayal of Jessica James won’t let you down. The story centers on this 25-year-old aspiring playwright who doesn’t have self-esteem issues. Oozing with confidence and brilliance, she thinks getting into a rebound relationship will help her get over the last guy she was seeing. She gets caught off guard by her feelings for Chris O’Dowd’s character, Boone.

2) The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

What’s manlier than being part of a book club under Nazi occupation during World War II? Well, you’d have to ask Juliet Ashton, played by Lily James. She’s a writer who soon finds out about a society in the far-off Channel Islands. She unpredictably forms a bond with the members and residents of Guernsey in the aftermath of World War II. This movie will begin streaming on Netflix August 10.


3) When We First Met

Mostly, this movie is a guide on not waiting too long to make a move on the girl of your dreams. But also, it tackles the idea of being “trapped in the friendzone” by seeing outside that perspective of being confined in that space. It’s an offbeat romantic comedy movie that deals with the idea of pressing romance and looking beyond your own feelings. Plus, it includes time travel via a photo booth!

4) Like Father

Kristen Bell (still looking like such a babe) stars as a workaholic executive who gets left at the altar and ends up still going on her honeymoon cruise, but with her estranged father (played by Kelsey Grammer) who seemingly came out of nowhere to return to her life. The two embark on an adventurous search for their souls, both together and apart. It streams on Netflix starting August 3.

5) Tramps

We saved the best for last with this movie. Two incompatible youths on a felonious pursuit. Everything goes wrong when one of them ends up swapping briefcases with the wrong person. Spending a night together to fix the slip up sparks an unplanned partnership that gradually turns into a budding romance. The two actors, Callum Turner and Grace Van Patten, effortlessly play off of each other with their undeniable chemistry.
