If you’re an otaku then you’ve probably heard of the highly-popular, extremely violent, anime superhero parody series One Punch Man. As the title indicates, main protagonist Saitama—who does superhero chores as a hobby—can obliterate big, hulking monsters (with blood and guts pouring out, mind you) with just a single punch.
Due to Saitama’s immeasurable strength and invincibility, he suffers an existential crisis and gets depressed from the lack of worthy opponents. He no longer feels the thrill of a good ol’ slugfest.
So we did him a solid and made the list below. We think these hyper-powered beings have the capabilities to serve as sparring partners that can make him sweat a little bit. (Although we can’t guarantee that they’ll survive if ever he gets serious...)
1) KOROSENSEI (ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM)
Korosensei has crazy good reflexes, a protective shell that deflects explosions, genius intellect, and tentacles (not the hentai kind). Also, if a whole bunch of highly trained assassins are secretly hired to kill you then chances are that you’re a very dangerous individual.
2) ALUCARD (HELLSING)
One of the most popular (and, frankly, overpowered) vamps in all of anime, the sadistic Alucard has around three million souls inside him, each one functioning as an "extra life," making him damn near impossible to kill. And did we mention he has shape-shifting and telepathic powers, too? Yes, our man Alucard (spell it backwards for a twist!) is leagues above those pretty boys and girls from that glittery vampire movie franchise.
3) KENSHIRO (FIST OF THE NORTH STAR)
Martial artist extraordinaire Kenshiro can make heads explode by merely going “ATATATATATA!!!” while making it rain fists. That, and he has epic durability that can take on attacks from all sorts of weapons. Saitama’s sure to have lots of fun sparring with this guy.
4) DIO BRANDO (JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE)
Dio might just be able to dodge Saitama’s attacks given his superhuman speed. This muscle-bound vampiric dudebro can also stop time using his The World power while his strength and regeneration gives him top-notch durability. Let's see if Saitama doesn't get jealous of his full head of golden hair.
5) FATHER (FULL METAL ALCHEMIST)
A.K.A. the original homunculus, his goal is to become the new god of the world and he’s got the skills to back up his ambition. He can manipulate energy and matter, transform anything into anything, and even spawn powers our puny brains won't be able to comprehend (he's been shown to hold a freakin' miniature sun in his hand!). The bad news: He's a bad guy. The good news: We've got Saitama-san. Let the battle begin.
6) RYUKO MATOI (KILL LA KILL)
Ryuko possesses superhuman strength as well as regenerative powers and will F your shit up if you mess with her. Heck, her heart was pulled out of her chest and she was still able to heal herself! Damn. Also, it’s highly likely that our bald superhero will get, well, distracted by her skimpy Senketsu outfit, which would enable her to find an opening.
7) KAGURA (GINTAMA)
She can throw a car one-handed, can catch bullets using her teeth, and can face an entire army by herself. And beware of her pretty parasol, which also doubles as a projectile weapon. This little girl certainly ain’t no pushover and we feel like she’d probably pal around with Saitama post-battle since he’s got that Gintoki (Kagura's lazy pal in the series) personality going on.
8) SUPER SAIYAN GOD SUPER SAIYAN GOKU (DRAGON BALL Z: RESURRECTION F)
We picked Goku's strongest version so far just to be sure (because Saitama is that OP). Trained by Whis (the God of Destruction's attendant who is actually stronger than his amo) himself, he has the power to make 99-percent of all anime characters shudder in fear. He was able to stop Golden Frieza, a character who can destroy planets with ease. It would be interesting though if they'll fight or just hang out since they're overall nice guys.
9) YUSUKE URAMESHI A.K.A. EUGENE (YU YU HAKUSHO/GHOST FIGHTER)
While Saitama is probably much stronger than Toguro and maybe even Yusuke's supremely powerful father, Raizen, we've all seen how Yusuke just never gives up. Yes, he has the Spirit Gun and punches that can reshape landscapes, but his biggest draw is his never-fading determination and perseverance. OPM is super strong, but Yusuke has the #puso to stay in the fight.
