The Internet’s premium source for cute cat videos completes its transformation into this generation’s MTV as they host the first-ever YouTube Music Awards. Recognizing the most popular music videos, the artists that broke through via the site, and the most innovative ideas in the medium, the YouTube Music Awards will be kind of like MTV’s Video Music Awards with less Miley Cyrus gyrations—hopefully.
The formal announcement of the winners will be held at a ceremony in New York on November 3, hosted by American comedians Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts.
The pair currently has a selection of promotional videos for the upcoming show, done in a tone that satirizes the homemade nature of many YouTube videos.
