Netflix has decided to create a TV series based on The Witcher franchise.
In a press release, Netflix stated that they will have Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski aboard as the creative consultant of the series.
“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing. I’m excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life,” he said.
For now, we don’t really have an idea what the untitled Witcher TV series will be about.
But Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, who will be executive producers for the show, were feeling a bit generous so they revealed some details about the upcoming series.
“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising,” they said.
Other information, like the cast and a release date, have yet to be revealed.
The Witcher franchise first started with Sapkowski’s novels, which were then adapted into the popular role-playing game trilogy featuring main protagonist Geralt of Rivia as an elite Witcher.
Aside from the TV series, there’s also a Witcher film in the works.
