What qualities do women look in for in an ideal partner? This question has long baffled single men, sometimes leading to the bitter conclusion that only physical looks matter.
But it’s not true, at least according to a newly published study conducted by Match.com. The researchers from the online dating website conducted a survey among its 24 million users and found that the opposite sex will probably pick the adventurous guy over the hunk.
A whopping 85 percent agree that a potential date’s sense of adventure is an attractive quality.
In terms of why that might be, Dr. Helen Fisher, Chief Scientific Advisor for Match and Biological Anthropologist, explains in a statement that “novelty triggers the dopamine system in the brain to make you feel alert, focused, energetic, optimistic...and often romantic, making one’s sense of adventure the ultimate aphrodisiac.” She adds: “So when you find an adventurous partner, you are likely to have a companion who will keep you lively, healthy and romantic too.”
Furthermore, 73 percent of the respondents said they’d be more attracted if they had items on their bucket list in common. Among the list are go on a safari, ride a hot air balloon, swim with dolphins, and travel through Europe.
The researchers encourage men on the Internet to update their dating profiles.
Now, instead of wasting time swiping right and left, why not edit your profile? This might be the key to landing more dates.
