Most Halloween dress-up parties involve lots of last-minute effort and imbento. Rather than seeing it as a headache, we recommend using this time to dress up to...actually dress up—in something you wouldn’t normally wear but are secretly dying to try out. If people think it’s cool, then you’re free to break it out for the rest of the year—otherwise you’ve succeeded in helping Halloween become a bit scarier in your own little way. Happy haunting!

The biggest dresscode hurdle for a man: the full suit. Even if you're not a banker or a businessman, you may be curious if you'd look slick all buttoned up. But with no weddings on the horizon, you aren’t finding out anytime soon. Doing an Agent Smith is easy because his suit is basic and bland—but smooth. Blame the suit they think you came to the party to sell coffins.

You aren’t a baller and never will be, but the itch of the nation’s pastime is finally getting to you. Avoid the try-hard baller stage by debuting your flashy new NBA jersey at the party when everyone is drunk and more forgiving. Never worn slim jeans in your life? Sneak your way into your first pair of skinny black denims and boots in the guise of the galaxy’s smoothest smuggler. The old-school tsaleko will break the ice, and your newfound sexiness will hopefully follow up with swag. If it doesn’t work, go hide under the floor panels of your house just like Luke Skywalker on the Falcon.

A leather jacket is impractical for 99 percent of the days in a Philippine year–Halloween night is not one of them. Try the James Dean look by riding off the goodwill everyone feels for Guardians of the Galaxy’s Star Lord. Do not admit to buying the jacket unless you garner a favorable response.
