So Kevin Durant has officially decided to take his talents over to the Golden State. It’s been a controversial move to say the least, garnering a lot of extreme reactions—mostly sentiments of disbelief, resentment, and disappointment. There’s also the argument for LeBron James as having set a precedent for KD’s decision, which is a debate in itself that drew quite a bit of ire from James’ fans.
But regardless of how you feel about it, the die is cast. Barring any other surprise announcements, Durant will be playing for the Golden State Warriors next season, and we’re eager to see what that’s going to look like. Luckily, Nike is quick to move, and we now have a glimpse of what shoes he’ll be wearing as a Warrior. Hardly even a week after KD made his announcement, Nike has already released "Home" and "Away" colors for the Nike Zoom KD 9 on NIKEiD.com.
The "Home" and "Away" colors are available globally, and coincide with the release of a multicolor customization option, which unfortunately for us, is only available in the States.
But these wouldn’t be the first pair of Zoom KDs to look good in blue and yellow. His signature shoes have always had some excellent blue-and-yellow colorways—pairs he could easily wear to the court after his decision to move to the Bay Area. Here are just a few of the best:
Nike Zoom KD1 "Drew Freeman Middle School"
This colorway of the KD1 was made as part of the KD1 "Career Pack," which commemorated the steps along Durant’s career before signing with Nike. This particular yellow colorway was done in the hues of his middle school, Drew Freeman Middle School.
Nike Zoom KD2 "Horse"
Here’s another player exclusive colorway. These KD2s have a reflective upper and were designed to commemorate Durant’s performance at the All-Star Games in 2010.
Nike Zoom KD3 "Holiday"
These 3s were part of the Nike Holiday pack in 2010—a pack that included Christmas-inspired LeBrons, Kobes, and KDs.
Nike Zoom KD 3 "EA Sports"
Touted as among the best colorways of the KD3—arguably the shoe that really put Durant’s signatures on the map—was designed for a video game called NBA Elite ’11, which never released. Thankfully, the shoe made it into production.
Nike Zoom KD 4 "Entourage"
This colorway was dubbed (yes, dubbed) "Entourage" after a blue-and-yellow colorway of LeBron 8s, which were designed based on a poster that came with the Entourage Series DVD. Whether or not these have links to the show is unclear, but they do make for a good GSW home colorway.
Nike Zoom KD 4 "Scoring Title"
A staple colorway among KDs, these Scoring Title 4s are easily the best among Durant’s previous shoes that would still apply to his new colors.
Nike Zoom KD5 “OKC Home”
Yes, these were his OKC Home shoes, but they would work just as well if he played for the Warriors back then.
Nike Zoom KD6 Elite Premium “Supremacy”
About this time, Nike Basketball was really investing in lavish materials and luxe colorways. This one was KD’s, and the accents on this really put the "gold" in Golden State.
Nike Zoom KD7 "Light Lacquer Blue"
This bright blue colorway should match his would-be Home jersey.
Nike Zoom KD8 Elite PE
Imagine these with white or yellow laces.
