College star and NBA first-round pick Jimmer Fredette has officially introduced himself as an icon in China through the unveiling of his new signature shoe with local performance brand 361°.
The 'Sneaker Woj' of ESPN gave a first glimpse of the 361 JiFeng, which means sharp halberd (a type of spear), and the pair doesn't look half bad. Arguably, it looks better than the Curry 2 Low 'Chef Curry,' adidas James Harden Vol. 1 'Triple Black,' and the ZO2 Prime:
The 10th pick of the 2011 NBA draft may have had a disappointing run in the pro leagues (four teams in five seasons), but has taken the Chinese Basketball Association by storm as a member of the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks.
Following the footsteps of Marbury and Michael Beasley, Fredette won the 2016-17 CBA International Most Valuable Player award—averaged 37.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.6 steals. He even once scored 73 in a double-overtime game, which summed up that dominating stretch.
With the success of minor players in the sneaker industry such as Starbury and Li-Ning (Dwyane Wade), Fredette has a chance to bring back 'Jimmermania,' albeit in a different setting.
