No, we don't celebrate Black History Month around these parts, but that won't stop us from admiring Nike's sleek collection of black-and-white colorways for the occasion. All four of the current Nike basketball signature athletes—LBJ, Kobe, KD and Kyrie Irving—have BHM shoes, and their muted colorway definitely make them stand out from the louder stuff we've seen in the #shoegame.
Of the four shoes, only three will be available in the Philippines, with Kyrie's Kyrie 1 not getting an official release. You must've seen the shoes if you were watching the NBA games back on January 19 when Kobe, LeBron, and Kyrie had Martin Luther King Day games. Making the collection an even nicer catch is the fact that a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ever Higher Fund, which supports organizations that benefit underserved U.S. youth through sport.
Check them out:
The LeBron XII - BHM retails for P12,995.
Durant's signature, the KD 7, on the other hand, will retail for a relatively more pocket-friendly P9,495
The most expensive of the bunch is Kobe's KB IX Elite, which is set to retail for P14,495. Yowza!
For those going the retro route, the AJ1 Retro is also available for P7,495.
Whatever you decide to cop, the main thing is these kicks' colors make it easy to pair them with whatever else you want to wear but works especially well with a Spurs jersey.
These limited edition sneakers were launched worldwide on January 17, and has started to appear in local stores. The supplies are quite limited though. The KB9, LeBron 12, and KD7 will only be available at Nike Park at The Fort, Nike Park at SM MOA, Titan at 2Parkade, Titan at Molito, Titan at Glorietta, Nike Stadium at EDSA Shang, and Nike Top at Greenhills. The AJ 1 Retro will be available at the said stores too with the exception of Titan Glorietta.
