You may look spotless and sputing, but your well-thought-of ensemble will only go to waste when you have got, beneath your nicely tapered pants, ugly white tube socks.
Reserve those for basketball or gym; tube socks don't belong in a business or formal ensemble. They look ugly with your leather shoes.
Admittedly however, those attires (business and formal) and the occassions by which they are needed (meetings, presentations, Friday night first dates, meeting the parents) are formulaic, if not boring.
The solution? Socks. They add color and humor to your outfit, without being too loud or too childish or too pa-cute. Think of these pairs as conversation pieces. They lessen to stuffy vibe, make you feel young and women'll think you're cute.
A few notes to remember: You can only have one conversation piece per ensemble. This is enough to break whatever seriousness or monotymy of said attires. Leave your crazy belt at home. Forget about wearing your sneakers and these socks with barong. Use an appropriate dress watch.
Stay within the boundaries of color. If you're getting your splash of color from socks, get it from your socks alone. If you already have a color palette to work with, work your socks by that palette; leave loud prints for next time.
