What to wear on a date—especially if it's the first—is a dilemma we've been trying to figure out for decades.
This may sound like a no-brainer to some, but we all experience some form of wardrobe panic when that "dress to impress" pressure comes on, don't we?
To get to the bottom of it, we, once again, go straight to the source: the girls, the ones we're trying to impress. We asked these 12 girls below, "What should a man NOT wear on a date?" These are their answers:
COLA, 21, Digital publishing assistant
"I don't like guys wearing polo shirt tapos nakataas 'yung collar para pa-cool. Or basketball shoes. Haha!"
JM, 26, Fashion stylist
"I don't like men wearing slippers on a date. Mukhang naka-pambahay."
JEAN, 21, Multimedia producer
"Ayaw ko ng mga naka-baggy clothing during dates kasi hindi neat tignan and parang ang jologs. Dapat medyo formal."
ILONA, 23, Loan processing specialist
"Tucked-in shirt or polo. It seems uncomfortable. I like a more relaxed look for my date. Parang hindi ako makahinga para sa kanila."
KIM, 22, Public relations officer
"An oversized shirt paired with shorts, high socks and Nike slippers. Actually, kahit hindi date, huwag."
TRINA, 22, Video production specialist
"Crocs. I just find them unflattering. Ang weird kasi ng shape niya, ang taba na tapos may butas-butas pa. But that's just me. I think it's okay to wear them if you're an on-duty doctor or nurse."
KRISTINE, 22, Student
"Ayaw ko ng naka-t-shirt at shorts na hindi maganda 'yung pagka-match. Ang awkward tingnan."
IRA, 30, Fashion writer
"Any footwear na kita toes (unless we’re dining by the beach). Also, anything sleeveless and strong perfume."
INSEL, 29, Multimedia officer
"Sleeveless kasi hindi magandang view ang mabuhok na kilikili."
GIENEVE, 23, Student
"I know it's still a trend among men, but I don't like men wearing skinny jeans. I think this piece of clothing is best left to the ladies."
SHEENA, 23, Customer service representative
"They should really learn to avoid shirts that are too tight on them, and shorts that fall way too long below the knee."
MASAKO, 21, Student
"No leather jackets, please! Gets ko 'yung gusto niyong pumorma, kaya lang ang init kaya sa Pilipinas."
