Basic hygiene is a reflection of one’s character. Nowadays, looking your best isn’t about vanity, it’s about showing the world how much you care for yourself. Unfortunately, until now, the average man’s daily grooming regimen is limited pretty much to shampoo, soap, and, thankfully, some deodorant. But, even if guys don’t like to admit it, even the manliest of men could use a little extra care.
In a recent event entitled “Bro Bootcamp,” Watsons rolled out a crash course program showing the boys how to master personal care. From basic cleansing training, to showering, shaving and scent, all the way up to moisturizing, the guys got the lowdown on upgrading their grooming game. And to help you out, here are some of the essential things every man should know, according to the dudes who know what they're talking about.
1) “Always look sharp and clean.” – Kiefer Ravena
According to the Phenom, Kiefer Ravena, a man should have a go-to trusty razor and shaving cream to achieve the manly art of shaving. “A good razor is a must so you’ll be set to get out there with that fine, put-together look in no time. Before shaving, remember to wash your face first, put on your shaving cream to prevent razor burns, let your shaver do all the work for you, then rinse it all out and apply aftershave for a cool refreshing feeling. Doing these steps will make you look sharp and clean.”
2) “Cleanse your face (and your body).” – Robi Domingo
Cleansing preps the whole grooming process. This is where you rid yourself of dirt and have a clean base. TV host Robi Domingo suggests that you shower once or twice a day, and also, don't forget to wash your face. “Always be ready for close encounters. Say no to bad odor by cleansing your face and your body. Caring and cleansing your face and your body will lead to a good-smelling you, which, of course, is always a turn on. And millennials are expected to always succeed. So we have to look the part.”
3) “Don’t forget to moisturize.” – John James Uy
After removing the impurities of your skin through cleansing, the next step is to moisturize your skin. According to model John James Uy, “Washing your face sometimes leads to dry skin. And that’s a problem no one wants to deal with. That’s why it’s advisable to have a moisturizing product, usually in cream form, as part of your kit.”
4) “Refresh your skin!” – David Guison
“It’s not enough to be clean; you’ve got to smell clean, too,” says blogger David Guision. A lot of guys underestimate the importance of smelling nice. If you don’t know where to begin “refreshing” your skin, David advises that you start with the basic deodorant, then spray on a light fragrance or cologne.
