We can forgive his trash-talking. We can forgive his Spiderman Dunk. Heck, we can even forgive his song "Bagyo."
But that strip of green on Arwind Santos' head? That's where we draw the line.
The PBA is no stranger to outrageous hairstyles (Remember Ogie Menor's pet lizard?) and players with unconventional hair colors—Terrence Romeo and Calvin Abueva as blondes, Arnold Van Opstal as Jack Frost. The San Miguel Beermen forward, however, has taken his hair game to the next level. And we're not the only ones who noticed.
That Dinky Soliman comparison had us in tears. Maybe Santos and the former DSWD secretary share the same hairdresser.
You'd have to wonder what was going through the mind of the 37-year-old before he decided to have just a small section of his mane dyed neon. Was he having a Russell Westbrook moment, only he went wild with his hair? If so, Santos should've done it five years ago, during his Most Valuable Player season a la Brodie.
Also, why not go full Dennis Rodman and have it done entirely? Red will be the perfect hue for Santos, based on his playing style (Sakuragi, is that you?) and one of the Beerman's team colors. He is less likely to get ridiculed with a full head of crimson hair than an awkward green spot. At the end of the day, he's still going to be the subject of memes anyway.
We understand that green is Santos' favorite color and it's lucky according to feng shui, but next time, keep it to the socks and sneakers.
