STUDY: Women Prefer Guys Without The Man Bun

Time to ditch the man bun and grow some facial hair!
by Mary Rose A. Hogaza | Jul 16, 2015

It's time to move on from the man bun…unless you want to stay single for the rest of your life.

Last May 2, 2015, West Coast Shaving, a company that specializes in offering grooming items, conducted a survey which involved 1,000 American women. The goal: Find out their thoughts about the latest hairstyle craze a.k.a. the man bun. Despite its popularity, 35.5 percent of the respondents said they don't like it, 27.4 percent hate it, while only 37.1 percent said they approved of it.

WHAT? ONLY 37.1 PERCENT? THAT'S BLASPHEMY!

Here's the biggie: When asked if they'd ever go on a date with a guy sporting a man bun, 58 percent answered they wouldn't. Also, up to 74 percent of the girls said they don't think their lover would actually look more attractive if he starts having a hairy knot on his head.

The reason? It actually looks "feminine and weird." Ouch.

The study also gauged the women's approval of other types of facial hair, and a large percentage gave a thumbs-up to the clean shave look. Twenty eight percent of the participants said they're good with a bit of stubble, 19 percent are okay with a beard, 12 percent approve of goatees, and only two percent go for the good ol' 'stache.

While we're not sure if these results represent the male hair ideals of all womanhood, the study still offers an interesting peek at the insights the fairer sex has when it comes to our manly locks. If you're going to believe what it says though, you know what to do.
