It's 2018, and the best shoes to go with a good suit are...still proper dress shoes. The only difference is no one will think "oh my, such a style rebel" if you decide to show up somewhere in a sneakers-and-suit combo—it might have been a bold move before but, trust us, it's not surprising at all anymore. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, but just make sure you have the appropriate kicks to pull it off. The general rule is to still let your suit do the talking, so no overly modern shapes, no tech features, no basketball shoes, and no outlandish colors.
