Do you love lechon, but resist it for health reasons? Do you like eating pizza, but rarely do because it's gonna make you fat? Too bad these meals get bad raps that they don't really deserve.

The truth is you are actually avoiding foods that are good for you—some of them actually provide nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. Blame old wives tales, outdated research, or your feeling-nutritionist moms all you want; but that won't give you back all the lechon slabs you've turned down over the years.

So, enough of the blame game. Let's just eat—and for that we have a list of seven unhealthy meals that actually have insane health benefits!

Why we don't eat it: Because it's full of calories and fat, which might increase the risk of heart failure.

A nutritionist says the logic here is that eating fat can actually teach the body to help burn fat.

3)   PIZZA

Why we don't eat it: Because it contains sodium and lots of calories that can make anyone's blood pressure shoot up.

Why we should eat it: Researchers discovered that those who ate pizza at least twice a week were 59 percent less likely to develop cancer of esophagus, 34 percent less likely to develop throat cancer, and 26 percent less likely to get colon cancer. And that's all because pizza is rich in lycopene, a phytochemical found in tomatoes. So the next time you go for pizza, ask for more 'matoes, it's a weird request but ultimately a good one.

Why we should eat it: Although it's true that shrimps are relatively high in cholesterol, research shows that it isn't too bad after all. For instance, it can help the skin stay young because it contains high levels of astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant. And for those experiencing the onset of hair loss, its zinc content can actually help your locks to regrow.

Why we don't eat it: Because sugar is equal to diabetes.

Why we should eat it: Surprisingly, ice cream is a good remedy for sore throat. It acts like an anesthetic that numbs the inflamed area for a while.
