Was he robbed in 2015? Or maybe you felt strongly about his 2016 snub instead? Was the 2017 MVP just a product of stat-padding? Well, wrongs have been righted because James Harden was finally awarded MVP for the 2018 season and adidas promptly dropped an "MVP" collection to commemorate the occasion. The pack consists of the Harden Vol. 2, Harden Vol. 2 Lifestyle (think uncaged), and Harden B/E X (think moon boots) all wearing the same black suit with gold and blue accents.
The Three Stripes have probably been itching to release these for a while, but somebody also asked "why adidas put GSW colors on it doe" and damn, now we can't unsee it—although those really stand for the city seal colors of Compton, where Harden grew up. So if you aren't onboard with this colorway, then let's look back at the best of his signatures, so far, to see what they could have gone with instead.
BTE 2 Neon
This shoe was released with a full five colorway lineup, but this highlighter-hued version is easily the standout.
Harden Vol. 2 "Step Back"
A tribute to a '90s Rockets kit with its cool navy blue. We'd like to see a shirt like that again just so we can match it with these kicks.
Harden Vol. 2
The launch colorway for his second signature was not to be missed—melon hues and rad graphics made sure of that.
Harden LS "Sweet Life"
Back in 2017, Harden crossed millenial pink with a basketball shoe and tickled the cop bones of hypebeasts everywhere.
Harden Vol. 1 "Grayvy"
This colorway is chill af and is said to represent Harden's laidback on-court personality. We agree it does the job well, aside from his getting fouled face, of course.
Crazylight Boost PE "Ghost Pepper"
Harden's final player edition before he moved into a full-fledged signature shoe is also one of the best. Reuse this scheme on a new model going forward, please.
