The popular phrase "It must be the shoes" might just be perfect to describe Kevin Durant's solid performance against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA conference finals.

The Golden State Warriors forward exploited Kawhi Leonard's absence and finished with 34 points, on top of 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks, to guide his team to a 1-0 series lead. He may have been his team's best player that night, if not for Stephen Curry's 40 markers.

Interestingly, this was also the first game where Durant laced up the latest edition of his signature basketball shoes, the Nike KD10. The release coincides with the former MVP's 10th anniversary with the Swoosh brand, which signed him when he was still a skinny teenager.

Under the guidance of Nike designer Leo Chang, Durant has steadily improved the architecture of his sneakers, with the KD10 in its apex.

Two things stand out from this new release: the Flyknit tech and innovative lacing system. The former's construction in the KD10 is said to be the most advanced ever for the sport: "A tour de force of the technological capacity mixing low stretch, high-tenacity (think seat belts) yarn at stress points and a high stretch yarn at the collar and across the forefoot."

Meanwhile, the custom laces have a dual purpose—to add aesthetic value and secure the foot to the midsole.

Nike also released an accompanying video that chronicles his decade-long journey to greatness, in the league as well as with the brand. Durant says it best: "To have your name on a shoe, for it to be yours is special to me. This is my life, I wanted to take control of it and I did, I can’t live my life for nobody else but myself."

If the superstar continues to put up those kind of numbers, gets over the hump, and finally seizes the ring he so covets, you know which pair aided him in doing so.

The Nike KD10 will drop on June 5 at Titan Fort and Nike Park Fort for P7,645
