Earlier this month, the King gave a sneak peek of his NBA gear in Los Angeles Lakers colors, and that jersey-and-sneaker combo looked fresh. Today, LeBron shared the first official look of his latest signature shoe, the Nike LeBron 16, on Instagram.
He also gave a glimpse of the upcoming pair on his Instagram Stories.
Like its predecessors the 15, 14, and 9, the LeBron 16 carries the shape of an actual shoe, unlike the boxy monstrosities in between. It's equipped with the familiar Flyknit, Zoom, and Max requirements, only modified to suit LeBron's ever-changing basketball needs. The aesthetic pays attention to an unusual ribbed pattern, from the last one's "dragon scales," outside the iconic crown and lion logos.
The black and red colorway is the first one to be revealed and given a release date (September 20), although more silhouettes are surfacing online, including Oreo and Black/Gold designs. Laker fans would love to see LeBron rocking a Purple and Gold pair at the Staples Center once the NBA season kicks off.
He was spotted debuting the yet-to-be-available kicks in a UCLA gymnasium, with some saying it resembles the Nike KD9 Elite. What are your thoughts on this new sneaker from the King?
