Listen up, Sperry fans! We've just found another reason to love the brand!
Just recently, they launched the Customization Bar at Power Plant Mall in Rockwell Center, allowing its customers to reinvent their boat shoes. In collaboration with one of the best tattooing shops in the metro, P&P Tattoo, fans are given the chance to have their Sperrys inked with unique artworks.
Sounds pretty exciting, right? But before you bring your fave pair over to the bar, here are some things worth knowing:
BRING A VISUAL AID
If you don't like the designs they provide, supply a visual example of what you want. It can be as simple as your initials or as detailed as your favorite anime. Whatever you decide to go for, the tattoo can be on the upper, back, or side of the shoe. So save photos in your phone before you leave home. Describing might work, but it's easier to just bring a photo.
IT'S BEST FOR POLISHED LEATHER
Got a pair of suede or nubuck shoes? Well, it isn't advisable to ink them. But cheer up, dude. You can always get a pair of leather shoes. Tan shoes are highly recommended because the design will be much more visible. You can also go with a darker shade but the design wouldn't be able to pop out.
WHITE SHOES ARE A NO-GO, TOO
Unfortunately, white shoes don't take the treatment well. The ink scatters and ruins your beloved pair.
SHOE LACE UPGRADE
Don't like to get your shoes tattooed? Luckily, you can spruce up your shoes with Sperry's laces. Have your leather laces tied in specialty knots or decorated with nautical pins.
The tattooing wouldn't cost you even a single cent. And the cooler part is you can actually bring your old Sperry pair to give it a fresh look. No need to present proof of purchase.
The Sperry Pop-up Store is open every Saturday and Sunday at R3 Level, Powerplant Mall, Rockwell from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. starting this weekend until July 26.
