Netizens To Gretchen Barretto And Crew: ‘Money Can't Buy Class’

The actress and socialite’s ‘Instagram charity’ video is still trending despite issuing an apology over the weekend

Gretchen Barretto and her friends, Mimi Que and Patty Pineda, are currently in hot water for laughing at a stranger’s letter featured on her so-called “Instagram charity.”

The viral video, which has now been deleted on Barretto’s IG account, showed Pineda reading the letter which states: “My eldest po this January has been diagnosed with butas sa puso. Been sending my request for my brother who had two… duodenal (sic) mass and chest lymphoma and soon for chemo po and sana mabasa niyo po. Since it’s a (sic) Mother’s Day, ang request ko po sana is Ensure milk for my mother-in-law… Lilia … na 73-years-old mag-isa lang po siya.”


Pineda, Barretto, and Que were laughing the whole time the letter was being read. The one taking the video, Barretto’s daughter Dominique Cojuangco, can also be heard as she repeatedly asked “What’s wrong with her, mom?”

Instead of being praised for the charity work, Barretto and her friends are now being bashed online for making fun of the letter sender.

“Sorry po at minsan nakakalimutan ko po na 48 years old na ako and I should be behaving my age. But talagang sadyang immature pa rin po ako  and I am very sorry. I’d like to make a public apology, although Jo-Ann Mula already accepted our apology that very night,” she said.
