There’s more to make you feel good about this week other than the long weekend we just enjoyed.
From a new Defense of the Ancients (Dota) tournament among member schools of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) to a lola who’s probably stronger than you, there’s a lot to rave about this week.
Dota 2 heroes
A new tournament is making waves among UAAP schools, but it’s not your traditional sports with the regular fanfare. For the first time ever, an inter-school Dota 2 championship was held by the University of the Philippines Gaming Guild over the weekend.
Team Kangkong from the University of Santo Tomas emerged as victors in the recent Impetus 2017 tourney after beating Ateneo De Manila University’s Saltstack in a 3-0 sweep during a best of five championship series.
Are you a gym rat? This lola is probably stronger than you.
Meet Susie Rose, a 75-year-old Fil-Am originally from Bulacan. Susie recently won gold after winning in the American Powerlifting Federation competition earlier this month.
Not only did she win the 65-plus division, Susie actually set a deadlift record of 209.4 pounds while she was at it. And the kicker? It was just her first time to join a powerlifting contest. Now that’s one awesome lola.
If you like eggs (omelettes in particular), rice and would highly appreciate the fact that a Japanese dude who looks like an Asian drama series star mashed these two ingredients up and cooked for you then you’re in luck.
On social media, this Japanese student went viral after a netizen posted pictures of him peddling omellete rice or “omu-rice” for short at the North Avenue MRT station.
As it turns out, he actually sells these yummy treats as a sideline. You can snag them for P35 each or P100 for three orders but you better hurry up because his goods get sold out fast. Unfortunately, you won’t catch him and his omu-rice today because he’s resting up.
