Six men were killed during a raid on the family compound of alleged drug lords Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr. and his son Rolando "Kerwin" Espinosa, Jr. on Wednesday morning.

The six casualties—who allegedly triggered a shootout with cops in Sitio Tinago, Brgy. Benolho—were the elder Espinosa's personal hitmen, according to police officials, GMA News TV Live reported.

The bodies of four of those killed were found in two of the mayor's houses, while the remaining two were found at Kerwin's house.

During the raid, authorities searched the estate properties supposedly owned by Espinosa such as three mansion-like homes, a hotel, and two more houses.

They also found a compound, which solely housed the mayor's collection of exotic pet snakes, a personal gym, and several jetskis, as per a report by ABS-CBN News.

Police busted the properties following a tip about armed men roaming about.

On Tuesday, the elder Espinosa surrendered to Philippine National Police chief Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa before the expiration of a 24-hour ultimatum set by President Duterte.

The mayor of Albuera, for his part, admitted his son's links to illegal drug trade. Kerwin remains at large and has reportedly fled abroad.
