Who doesn’t love chowing down on chicken wings? They’re the perfect all-occasion grub, putting them high up on the list of the best foods in the world alongside other culinary legends like pizza and popcorn. Sure, they’re messy to eat, but when something tastes that good, who cares about losing some pogi points? (Besides, we’re sill utterly handsome no matter what. Apir!)

But you know what’s better than just scarfing down a whole bowl of wings? Actually making them, that’s what. When you’re getting tired of the usual basic prito, try these recipes for size—you’re bound to find at least one you’ll actually enjoy whipping up!


HOT GLAZED WINGS

If you’re one of those men who like their food as hot as their females, then you should try this recipe out. Marinate eight wings for a couple of hours in a mixture of ½ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon allspice, 2 teaspoons hot sauce, a drop of liquid seasoning, and a dash of salt and pepper.  Steam the chicken wings until they change in color, let it rest for a few minutes, then dredge them in flour and deep fry them.

To make the coating, heat in a saucepan three tablespoons of butter, a tablespoon of vinegar, ¼ cup of sweet chili sauce, and four tablespoons of hot sauce. Coat your wings in the mixture, and serve with ranch sauce.

BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS

Can’t handle the heat of the previous recipe? Try making some classic buffalo wings instead. Immerse the chicken wings in some water with salt for an hour, season them with salt, pepper, and other spices. Then, dredge the wings in flour mixed with a dash of chili pepper, paprika, oregano, and thyme, and deep fry the pieces until golden brown. Take them out, and coat the wings in a mix of butter and hot sauce. Serve it with some parsley and a blue cheese dip.

KOREAN CHICKEN WINGS

Marinade the wings in a mix of soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, honey, ginger, garlic, onion, chili garlic paste, and sesame seeds. Refrigerate them overnight, making sure that the meat gets marinated evenly. Transfer the pieces to a foil-lined baking tray, brush the remaining marinade over them, and bake them until tender. Want ‘em crunchy? Deep fry instead of popping them in the oven, boil the marinade until thick, and brush the sauce on the wings.

CHINESE CHICKEN WINGS

Not in the mood for Korean food? How about Chinese-style wings? To do it, sauté some ginger and garlic and add in a bunch of chicken wings, two tablespoons of sesame oil, 1 ½ tablespoons of Chinese rice wine, and a dash of salt. Cover your pan and cook until the chicken is tender. Combine a few tablespoons of honey, a bit of soy sauce, and a dollop of oyster sauce, and mix it in with the chicken. Cook it for a few more minutes, add some green onions, and serve while piping hot!

STICKY HONEY-ORANGE CHICKEN WINGS

Add a sweet twist to your chicken with a bit of orange! Coat your wings in  a mix of flour, five-spice powder, salt, and pepper, and fry them until they’re nicely golden brown. Drain the wings, and make a glaze by sautéing some ginger, a tablespoon of grated orange peel, and half a cup of honey. Simmer for a few minutes, and coat the wings in them.

Dredge your chicken wings in flour, dip them in three beaten eggs, and coat them in a mix of ¾ cups each of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese and ¼ cup parsley. Deep fry until crispy, and drain the excess oil. For that extra kick, top the cooked wings with marinara sauce, grated mozzarella and some more parmesan, and broil them until the cheese melts.

Season your wings with salt and pepper, roast them until cooked, and toss them with crumbled cooked bacon and a mixture of one tablespoon bacon drippings, ¼ cup maple syrup, and two tablespoons each of cider vinegar and bourbon.
