9 Things about Avengers Before It Comes Out!

The Avengers will finally hit the global screens come Wednesday, 25 April. The folks at Marvel made us wait four years and watch five hype-heavy, build-up flicks before coming down to this point, which is why it's safe to assume that hardcore followers have long been itching for this day to come. Do expect heavy traffic indoors and out, gentlemen.

But we did say that it's still a couple of days away. So near yet so far. So we figured a little movie trivia could only ease out the torture that anticipation brings about. No spoilers and shit, just a bunch of stuff to talk about before and after seeing the movie. Check it out!

1. Lou Ferrigno, famous for portraying The Hulk in the 1978 CBS series, provided the green monster's voice for this film. Ferrigno has also been involved in almost every Hulk project ever made in film and television, from its cartoon counterparts to cameos in subsequent movies.

2. The Avengers movie boasts a high number of Academy Award nominees in the cast and crew: Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder, Gwyneth Paltrow for Shakespeare In Love, Samuel L. Jackson for Pulp Fiction, Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker, Mark Ruffalo for The Kids Are All Right, and cinematographer Seamus McGarvey for Atonement, among others.

3. Two founding members of The Avengers, Hank Pym (Ant Man/Giant Man) and his wife Janet (The Wasp) did not make it to the film. Stan Lee, however, the dude who created the Hank Pym character, tweeted back in 2010 that a potential Ant Man film is in its early stages, suggesting that he has met with Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World director Edgar Wright.

4. Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the film, once sent Clark Gregg a text message that simply reads, "Assemble." Gregg, who in turn portrays S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson in several Marvel films, cites it as the best text message ever sent to him.

5. Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in successive Marvel flicks, is set to star in a titular prequel film after the release of The Avengers. Robert Downey Jr. is also set to reprise his role in 2013's Iron Man 3, and Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth will both return in Thor 2 next year. So no, The Avengers is not the ultimate endpoint in the series.

6. Joss Whedon, who directed this movie, was once attached to direct an X-Men film back in the 90s. He is best known for his work in the 1997 series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.

7. This is the first time The Hulk will be portrayed by the same actor in a live-action film. Mark Ruffalo personally portrayed The Hulk through virtual camera motion capture, the same way it was done in Where The Wild Things Are and Avatar. Ang Lee and Louis Leterrier's versions of the film used a computer-generated character.

8. Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark, wears a Black Sabbath shirt in one of the scenes in this movie. You must know that Black Sabbath has a song called "Iron Man," which was rightfully included in the soundtrack of the first Iron Man movie in 2008.

9. Tom Hiddleston, who plays Thor's evil brother Loki, said in an interview that the film pretty much pits all of the Avengers against a sole villain, which he portrays. This proves to be true in the actual comic book. The first issue of The Avengers in 1963 featured a plot wherein Loki accidentally called out Thor, Iron Man, and Ant-Man, and The Hulk in an attempt to gain revenge from his brother.
