When actress Alma Moreno filed her certificate of candidacy for senator on the third day of filing, many were left dumbfounded by her move.
FYI, Loveliness' (or Ness, her nickname in the '80s) political credentials include being a Parañaque City councilor in 2007 and 2010, aside from an unsuccessful 2004 mayoral bid. So her big leap was, safe to say, quite mind-boggling unexpected. This despite Moreno initially expressing an intention to run for the same position in 2012, if not for a lingering illness.
Perhaps to convince the public that she is very much sincere and qualified for one of the country's top local posts, Moreno, who is under Vice President Jejomar Binay's 2016 Senate lineup, appeared on ANC's Headstart last November 11, hosted by journalist Karen Davila, for a live interview.

However, instead of winning the people and their votes, the discussion seem to have ended the other way around, primarily due to her questionable takes on some of the country's most pressing issues.
Like this one, for example:
Moreno says she does not support same-sex marriage. "I believe it is a sin." #Halalan2016— ABS-CBN News Channel (@ANCALERTS) November 11, 2015
You wouldn't really expect that quote to get a lot of thumbs-ups.
Don't vote for Alma Moreno. A bigot w a religious agenda doesn't belong in a law-making body. 🖕🏼👎🏼 https://t.co/LrbB4EhGiQ— Kate Heceta (@kateastrophic) November 11, 2015
Alma Moreno is running for Senate, right? One candidate I will definitely NOT vote for. https://t.co/FXqQ2b46OA— PinoyG4M (@PinoyG4M) November 11, 2015
Alma Moreno, wow ha. Ikaw na ang bagong moral compass. https://t.co/wPNBGz22jP— Alan (@ali_parrot) November 11, 2015
Moreno also chimed in on the Bangsamoro Basic Law (or at least tried to)...
Moreno on Bangsamoro Basic Law: I am for peace but we still need to study that. "Kapiraso pa lang nababasa ko. Ibigay muna natin sa experts"— ABS-CBN News Channel (@ANCALERTS) November 11, 2015
...with an answer that is proving to be meme-worthy.
I was wondering why Alma Moreno decided to run as a Senator when she doesn't even know BBL my ghaad— angel (@narrysistible21) November 11, 2015
Ano ayaw mo sa BBL? - di ko pa nababasa ng buo. Alma Moreno Hahahahaha 😀😀😀😀— Pat Stockinger™ (@supsup010) November 11, 2015
"Do you collect stickers for the planner?" Pag-aaralan ko muna - Alma Moreno— Gabriel (@twitnigab) November 11, 2015
As expected, tweeps felt that the actress-politician just shot herself in the foot with what appeared to be a FAIL of an interview.

Here is the (head-scratching) full video:
Moments after the guesting, Karen came up with a rather interesting post:
Does ALMA MORENO have a chance to WIN YOUR VOTE? "Ness" runs for the Senate! #ANCHeadstart #Halalan2016 👊🏼 Are you for Anti Political Dynasty Bill? "HINDI, tao naman ang bumoboto sa yo" 👊🏼 Divorce? "NO". Same Sex Marriage? "NO. Kasalanan siya" Anong gagawin mo sa Senado? "Mga batas pang kababaihan" 👊🏼 Sang-ayon ka sa RH LAW? "gusto ko magplano ang mahihirap, pero hindi ako sang-ayon sa pills, natural dapat". 👊🏼 BBL: "hindi ko pa nabasa lahat, concentrated ako sa mga isyu sa kababaihan" Says, "Kung ano ang makakabuti". On a lighter note, "who is your TRUE LOVE?" Moreno: "Joey Marquez" 😉 #nov112015 #ilovemyjob #karendavilaContinue reading below ↓
You tell us, Ms. Davila.
