Have you guys heard the news? Tennis crush ng bayan Ana Ivanovic, along with some of the sport's biggest stars, is set to play in Manila for an International Premier Tennis League event later this year!
So who would be joining Ana for IPTL's Manila leg this coming November? That would be Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Andy Murray, and tennis legends Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, just to name a few. This is the first time in over 25 years that Filipinos can get to witness big-name tennis stars play in the PH (the last being John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg's Manila visit/exhibition match in April 1989), so this is obviously a must-see affair.
Taking place from November 28 to mid-December, the tennis team tourney will have Manila, Mumbai, Dubai, and Singapore as the four competing franchises. Teams will play each other in a round-robin format in all of the participating cities, with the winning team taking home the grand prize of US$1 million. Now, for those who are hearing about Ivanovic for the first time, here's a photo that pretty much explains why we're really psyched that she's coming to town:
A shoutout to our bros from FHM UK for the pictures!
Pretty swell, eh? We should totally talk about tennis—and its female stars—more often. Scroll down to see and know more about Serbia's greatest export, Ms. Ana Ivanovic!
Ana first picked up a racket at the tender age of five, after watching Serbian tennis legend Monica Seles on television. By age 15, she was already competing as a professional.
By the time she turned 18, Ana had already beaten the likes of former Olympian Nadia Petrova and 2006 Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmom, a feat unheard of from women her age.
