At Least 3 Killed, Over 3,000 Affected In Cagayan De Oro Floods

Cagayan de Oro City is currently under a state of calamity following the massive flooding there due to heavy rains caused by a low pressure area since yesterday.

Just look at the footage that looks like something straight out of an apocalyptic movie.

Thankfully, the floods have started subsiding and life in CDO is slowly going back to normal.

However, at least three were killed, including a 14-year-old boy who died after flash floods toppled part of his house, GMA News Online reports.


There were also at least 3,000 people who were in some way affected by the floods according to the provincial disaster council.

In CDO alone, around 133 families were forced to evacuate from Barangays Bulua, Canitoan, Iponan, Lumbia, Pagalungan, Pagatpat, Pigsag-an, Sansimon, Tuburan and Tumpagon.

Meanwhile, CDO’s local government also announced some class suspensions.

Aside from this, they requested donations from the public comprising of the following basic needs:

So far, CDO’s Red alert status has been lowered to Yellow alert status but residents are advised to remain vigilant especially those living in areas near the Iponan River which earlier reached critical level.
