The NU 107 Rock Awards last Friday, October 29 at the NBC Tent was just like any other—lots of girls, lots of fun, lots of rock n' roll. It was like any other save for one tiny detail: It was the last.
"After 23 years, NU 107 is finally closing shop. We're sorry it took so long for us to confirm this. We were hoping for a miracle, I guess," writes Quark Henares on his blog.
But nothing's in vain. If Friday's Rock Awards is any indication, Pinoy Rock is anything but dead. Ppstarts Franco and Tanya Markova lorded it that night. Veterans from different genres and eras of Pinoy Rock like The Youth, Sugarfree, Slapshock, Pepe came in to party and celebrate in full force.
And NU, being NU, pulled in all the stops to make sure of two things: 1. that everyone had a rockin' good time and 2. that they, and the scene that they helped and took care of Pinoy Rock, will continue to blaze.
From Pepe Smith handing out the In The Raw Awards, to Doktora Vicki Belo showcasing NU DJ's Pontri's abs, to Iza Calazado hosting along with Erning and Tado, to Heart Evangelista dropping by, to Tuesday Vargas' shenanigans aplenty, to the slew of bands and rockstars from the past, the present, and the future, there's one thing for sure: There's no stopping Pinoy Rock.
Below are the six unforgettable moments of the NU 107 Rock Awards 2010. There is a lot to look back to, obviously.
