During the flag-raising ceremony on the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) headquarters on Monday, January 15, chairperson Patricia Licuanan has announced her resignation from the agency.

"Over the weekend I received a call from Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea asking me to resign as chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education. While my term by law ends in July 2018, I have decided it is time to go," she said in her official statement.

Licuanan, who was first appointed in 2010 and was reappointed in 2014, cited "false and baseless" accusations against her by "persons determined to get me out of CHED" as her reason for relinquishing the post.
