Blanc Art Space

2E Crown Tower, HV Dela Costa, Salcedo Village, Makati
Jay Amante's Blanc nestles in Makati's Salcedo Village district. "Kase diba Blanc in French means white. We want to be a palate for the art that we want other people to see, most of them are paintings... we may want to be a venue for performance, but there's not enough space for people to bleed to death or kung ano man, but maybe that can change." The gallery has opened a bigger space carrying the same name in Mandaluyong last July.

Old Manila Walks
Old Manila Walks, master mind Ivan Man Dy says, is "a walking tour outfitter that aims to show, educate, and reintroduce people about Manila's cultural heritage." How does he intend to do this? By tossing in a few hakaws along side trivia, and then washing these down with beer. Man Dy, who used to do volunteer guisding work for Bahay ng mga Tsinoy Museum in Intramurous, and is also a member of the Heritage Conservation Society, is the lead guide of the six walking tours that Old Manila Walks offer.

The self proclaimed "hub of contemporary art and music in the Philippines," the cafe/bar/gallery/store with branches in Katipunan and Bonifacio High Street may be akin or achingly close to a cultural McDo or Jollibee, but tell that to people who frequent the place and you're bound to get mugged. Both venues in Katipunan and High Street, apart from servicing good food and music, also serve as regular spots for art performances, poetry readings, as well as film screenings, and so on.
