Forty-eight-year-old Baron Brooks of Salt Lake City, Utah was surprised when he found out that his father spent $900 (P42,151) on a dating advertisement on Baron’s behalf at the daily newspaper Coeur d’Alene Press.
Baron’s father and “wingman,” Arthur Brooks, indicated on the ad important “qualities and musts” his potential daughter-in-law must have. Traits for the women range from “flexible” to rigid. Political beliefs, for instance, are non-negotiable. The ad states, “You must be politically conservative. This is very important to me. If you voted for Obama or plan to vote for Hillary you are not for me.”

Ages of the women must also be between 34 to 38 “but that can be flexible,” and that they must have no children from previous marriages. Another vital attribute includes height requirements: “I am 5’5” and if you are 5’8” & like to wear high heels it may not work.”
Of course a father always looks after his son, so Arthur also indicated that he will be screening potential partners.
Arthur ended the dating ad by stating that, "This is absolutely not a scam. The person or persons selected will be given round trip air ticket as well as first class lodgings.”
Baron was described by his father as “48 years old, live in Salt Lake City, and never been married.” It's also stated in the ad that the younger Brook owns a health shop.
According to The Spokesman Review, Baron was unaware about his father’s actions. He claims, “My father did this without my consent. I can’t even describe to you how embarrassing and ridiculous this is.”
Baron also added that his father is suffering from long-term health problems and yearns for a grandchild to keep the family name. Despite the circumstances, Baron will still allow his Dad to screen potential partners.
“It’s worth a shot,” said Baron, “[it] can’t hurt.”
