Where are you from?
I am from Ukraine. My name is Marta but I go by the name DJ Juicy M.

Why that DJ handle?
I really don’t know. I guess it was a way to make [listeners] hear that my music is juicy. And my name is Marta. So I just connected it and it became Juicy M.

So what do you think is the juiciest thing about you?
I absolutely fall in love with music. I love to travel and I am very positive, I guess.

How did your DJ career start?
I’ve been doing this for five years. Early on I had always been in love with music. I would always try to look for original sounds or original music that I could remix. When I went to university, I became a radio DJ and did some work with a music channel as well.

What sort of tracks do you enjoy mixing?
Right now I like doing mash-ups. I like to connect a little bit of RnB with a little bit of house and progressive so that I could make people jump full-on a hundred percent. This is what I love.

What technique do you employ to get people on their feet and on the dance floor?
About two years ago I used to play a lot of hip-hop, then I would do some scratching and turntableism. I won a championship for being the most technical DJ in Ukraine. I also use a microphone now so I’m very different from what most people are used to. I want people to jump, scream, and shot. It’s also very important to know what they [the crowd] want [to hear] next.

Have you performed here in the Philippines?
Yes, I spun at Palladium in Makati. I enjoy [the Filipino crowd] very much. It’s my third time here in the Philippines and every time, I always get a good feelin. It’s a great pleasure to perform for the Filipino people.

What is it about us you enjoy the most?
I like the energy. They were dancing like crazy at Palladium. That is all I need. I don’t need anything else. I just want energy. You know, happy eyes and happy people, that’s it.

Is the club scene here different from Ukraine’s?
No. Not really. It’s all the same. All the clubs make sure everything is gorgeous.

What do you think is the most special thing about Ukrainian women?
I think the most special thing about Ukrainian women is that they are famous all over the world for their beauty. Wherever I go people tell me this. And I believe the main reason is because we take care of  ourselves. We are also capable of walking in high-heeled shoes every day. We walk like models even on the streets. Come to Ukraine and you will see.

We’ll make sure to give you a call when we can afford it. So what type of guys do you typically go for?
I like the type of guy who knows what he will be doing in 10 years. He needs to have big plans, and have passion in his eyes. I like the boys who really know what they want. I don’t like very
beautiful boys, ha ha! He just has to be nice. I don’t fall in love with just beauty; I fall in love with what he does for me.

So how does this non-beautiful, ambitious man with passionate eyes win you over?
If I feel like a princess, then he’s my man
