O-M-G, Cesar Millan is the real deal!
The popular host of the Nat Geo Wild shows The Dog Whisperer, Leader of the Pack and Cesar 911 conducted a one-man show for Pinoy dog owners at the Eastwood Central Plaza last Tuesday night (April 29), and we signed up just to see if the man really is as good as advertised. Obviously, we're now super fans!
Are you as crazy about dogs as we are? Are you thinking of buying or adopting one in the near future? Or are you just desperate to get along with your girlfriend's Chihuahua? Some of the stuff Cesar taught us last night may come in handy! Read on!
PLEASURE THEIR SENSES
When puppies are born, the first thing they develop is their sense of smell, followed by their sense of sight and hearing. Simply put, the way to a dog's heart is through its nose. Lean a treat right by them and it's like they're under your spell.
THEY DON'T FOLLOW UNSTABLE PACK LEADERS
Your intentions, when mixed with your emotions, lead to energy, and dogs always feed off it. If they're not calm and submissive towards you, it means you're addressing the wrong kind of energy.
THEY BEHAVE THE WAY YOU WANT THEM TO BEHAVE
Dogs can smell your fear and anxiety from a mile away, and it's because of the pheromones your bodies exude. If you don't want them to act tense, you're going to have to make the first move. Your emotional state pretty much dictates how your dog moves around you.
ESTABLISH DOMINANCE NO MATTER WHAT
When a dog bites your hand, do not to force it off of its mouth. In fact, do the exact opposite—force your hand in deep enough to make them gag before you pull it out. Give them a light thud in the chest area so they would let go, and stare them right in the eye until they break eye contact. This lets them know that you're standing your ground.
