A motorist was killed while his family was injured after a cement mixer truck tipped over and crushed a family car in Quezon City on Tuesday afternoon.
The casualty was identified as 34-year-old Ulysses Ramos, who was driving a white Honda Brio along the southbound lane of Mindanao Avenue. His wife Marife and their three children were rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries, the Inquirer reports.
According to police, 27-year-old truck driver Jayson Nuay claimed he lost control of the truck after its brakes suddenly stopped working.
CCTV footage of the incident showed the truck still speeding up despite heavy traffic ahead. It apparently hit the center island which made it tip over and fall flat on its side, crushing the victim’s car.
The car had no chance and was instantly crushed like a tin can under the cement mixer’s barrel.
Meanwhile, Nuay is currently under police custody while authorities are investigating the incident.
