They may be holding separate inauguration ceremonies, yet incoming President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo are set to share a similar theme, particularly on their luncheon tables.

Sticking to their modest provincial roots, the country's top officials are ditching the usual royal entrée and will offer simple and native Filipino dishes to their guests.

A member of Duterte's inaugural committee told GMA News Online, "Iyong ating mga isi-serve sa ating mga bisita basically finger food, meron tayong lumpia, monggo in cups. Meron tayong cheese, kesong puti in pandesal. Iyon iyong mga simpleng bagay na ilalagay natin to also answer to his wishes."

The complete menu:
- Mongo guisado, smoked fish with alugbati in demitasse cups
- Lumpia ubod pouch
- Pandesal with kesong puti and Vigan longganisa (grilled on the spot)
- Durian tartlets
- Fried banana

Instead of wine, guests will have to make do with dalandan juice and pineapple-mango cooler. There were also reports of buko juice and adobo being added to the list.

For the Vice President-elect, her guests will be treated to classic local merienda to keep the event low-key, according to her spokesperson.

Though the five-item menu is still tentative and will be subject for approval, the items maja blanca, pichi pichi, pandesal of different flavors, sotanghon soup, and Choc Nut-flavored buchi (Chinese sticky rice balls) have already been shorlisted.
