After being blessed by the Pope, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has once again lost his cool and hurled expletives at North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza for indirectly implying that he was taking advantage of the Kidapawan shooting incident to bolster his campaign.
In an interview with the media, an angry Duterte sent a curse-filled message to the governor.
Duterte also said there was absolutely nothing wrong in providing humanitarian aid to the constituents of another local government.
"Huwag mo akong maliin," demanded the presidential candidate. "Maski na papano, assuming galing Davao yan, bakit ka magagalit na magtanggap yung mga tao ng makakain? Why?"
"What is fundamentally wrong if somebody writes my name [on] a sack of rice and gives it to the people na naroon? Eh sabi nila gutom, eh sabi ninyo merong bigas, eh di bigyan ninyo."
Duterte's move comes after the Davao City Council approved the release of P31.5 million to fund 15,000 sacks of rice that will be sent to the farmers of North Cotabato.
At least two farmers were killed while over 100 were hurt during a violent protest dispersal in Kidapawan City on April 1.
With their families in tow, the farmers were estimated to be at least 4,000. They were asking the local government for immediate aid after the El Niño phenomenon severely affected their livelihood.
