Forbes Magazine has released the eighth edition of their annual The World's Most Powerful People list. The 74 names include a familiar newcomer: President Rodrigo Duterte, who ranks at No. 70 for his voice that is "increasingly heard far outside of Asia."
Topping the list once again is Russian president Vladimir Putin, followed by newly elected U.S. president Donald Trump (up from No. 72 in 2015), and Germany's chancellor Angela Merkel. Other recognizable names include Pope Francis (No. 5), Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping, philanthropist Bill Gates (No. 7), Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (No. 10), and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick (No. 64).
The list and rankings are based on the number of people they have power over, the financial resources they control, their influence across a number of spheres, and how actively they "wield their power to change the world."
