Shimon Peres—who had served as Israel's president from 2007 to 2014—died on Wednesday morning, September 28 in Tel Aviv. He was 93 years old.

"World leaders including US President Barack Obama are expected to attend his funeral," reports BBC News.

But international fanfare aside, one of the heartwarming tributes to Peres came from his Filipino caregiver Ferdz Capacia.

On his Facebook page, Capacia posted a picture of himself and Peres. In the note for the photo, Capacia wrote, "Thanks for everything. Thanks for making me part of your history. Thanks for trusting a Filipino like me and I can proudly say on behalf of Filipino community here in Israel, we love you."

Online news site Forward did a story on Capacia and noted: "According to the Philippine Embassy in Israel, there are 31,000 Filipinos working legally in Israel, most of them as caregivers for the elderly. Workers rights groups estimate that thousands of other Filipinos work in Israel without legal documentation. About 80% of Filipino workers in Israel are women."

At the time the Forward article was posted, Capacia had not yet responded to their request for comment.
